whats with the smell

Layla had the weekend with my mum while we were away, and the text I got from mum day 2 was " Very sulky dog when I got home from work.  Went for walk to shops and she was great helping me in the garden"  A photo was sent to prove it.  I think my mother is as mad as me!  maybe that's where I got it from!!!!!
Anyway today when I took Layla for a walk- she was not so well behaved.  She found a dead eel in the reserve and OMG did she find it and suddenly she became deaf to the command of NO NO NO.  And again she sulked all day, after i washed her.  Whats with a sulking dog and a crazy owner that doesnt know a good smell when her dog finds it.

Im a labrador, so therefore "Feed Me"

Labradors are the funniest dogs...I just love them.  Well I love any dog regardless of breed really, but I have a soft spot for these food guzzlers particularly.  We used to have a big beautiful black Lab named Raz, and nothing came between him and food.  This is how Layla came to have a deformed ear in fact.  Raz knew where there was food in abundance and if the combination of being told "NO" here and a weak spot in the gate he would go find it.  Once I found him camping with a group of schoolies over at the local caravan park.  He had shacked up with them, sat around the campfire, sang for his food, and then snuggled down at the feet of the prettiest girl there for a good nights sleep.  He wasnt keen on coming home when I found him.
So on Australia day recently we were at a friends BBQ and lo and behold I met a couple of Labs who were really keen to get to know me.....hahah actually to get to know my chop bones and sticky fingers.  They looked deeply into my eyes, wagged their tales and didn't give up for a second.  Guess who won!!!!

dancing dogs indeed

I was recently at a show where dancing dogs were one of the displays.  The dogs were having fun, freestyle with their human guardians.  Some of the people explained to me that this was less restrictive than mainstream competition and from where I stood it did appear that 2 and 4 legged were all having good times.  Unlike the story in the paper I have recently seen where the dog guardian claims that his dog likes to walk on 2 legs only for great lengths of time.  On closer inspection of this picture it would appear that the dog has a rope around its front legs- to pull and hold it up.  Wasn't so happy to see this and cant imagine why any dog would prefer to walk this way.
